Feel free to invite friend over and show off our place- Just let us know what they are driving, and make sure they use the parking area. Guests are subject to house rules. If you will have more than 6, let us know.

Weapons: All firearms or projectiles shall be stored safely and legally in guest vehicles.

Drones: No flying of drones over private property, including the rental property.

ATVs/dirt bikes/etc: No ATVs or other mechanized vehicles. Passenger vehicles park only in parking area.

The drive is shared with your hosts. Please keep it clear at all times. Do not allow anyone to play, nap, or park on the drive, for their safety.

Pets: At the request of guests with severe allergies, we cannot host pets. Therapy or assistance animals (please send their certifications) will need to be crated while indoors, and leashed while outdoors. Of course, pet waste will be bagged and placed in the outdoor garbage,.The neighbors have outdoor livestock, and would not appreciate critter conflict. We allow well behaved unicorns and dragons, of course.

Kitchen: The Dome offers basic kitchen gear and supplies, feel free to use anything you find. If there is something you need, but can't find, let us know. Meal delivery is available, via celebrated local chef Veggie Annie.

Cleaning: The Dome is tidy and clean, please help keep it that way. Trash and recycle bins are in the kitchen and smaller trash cans in each toilet. There is a large red trash can outside, near the back porch. Please put your kitchen trash in the large can, before you leave. We don’t have trash pickup, we take recycle and refuse to a local facility.

P and Q: The Dome is a place for Peace and Quiet. Our neighbors and their animals need PandQ, wild animals need P and Q, and your hosts have nerve damage in their ears. Everyone has the right to peace and quiet enjoyment of their space. This is not the place for loud music, machines, or death metal karaoke parties. If you like to make noise, stay somewhere else, please.

**NO EVENTS, NO PARTIES, NO EXCEPTIONS.**

The Dome is NOT a party house. We respect and love our neighbors. Quiet hours are 10pm to 7am. Quiet conversation and laughter by the fire pit is not a problem, just don’t make a racket. We are 500 feet away, and neighbors down the hill are about the same distance.

Firepit: The firepit will have a supply of kindling and firewood for your stay, if you need more, let us know. Be mindful, of the next guest. Please use the stainless steel insert and spark shield, for safety and to reduce sparks. If you have questions or have need guidance on outdoor fire safety, please feel free to ask.

WiFi: The Dome offers fast, reliable wifi, look for the Telegia network to connect. The password is included in your welcome materials.

Flushing: The Dome has a septic system. Putting wipes, feminine care supplies, or anything other than bodily waste and toilet paper down the toilet, could result in other people not being able to use the rental due to a backup. This can cause property damage, plumbing and septic bills. Please don’t do that. Be mindful with our plumbing, please.

Loaners/rentals: Loaner floats are there for your enjoyment. Three bikes are available to rent. The bikes have been recently tuned up and should be ready to ride on the C and O. Tubes are available for floats down Antietam Creek, or for more ambitious floats on the Potomac. Dropoff and pickup may be available for a small fee.

Canoes and kayaks are available from Pedal and Paddle in Shepherdstown. We recommend reserving weeks ahead of time. We may be able to rent you small watercraft, but we prefer you use the professionals. They offer guided floats, as well. PFDs are required, we have extra.

Appliances: Manuals for coffee maker, dishwasher, washer/dryer, etc. are available, if needed. Look for the plastic bin labelled "Appliance Instructions" in the pantry shelves. Washing machine quick-start instructions are on a laminated page on the wall.

Hunting and Fishing:

Requires Maryland license. See Maryland DNR online.

NO hunting or discharge of weapons on the property. We do bowhunt on the property, but liabilities are too great, to allow others to do so.

Before you leave

  • Gather used towels
  • Throw trash away
  • Turn things off
  • Used dishes in dishwasher, please.
